Man City New Staff and players
Such has been the dominance of the capture of Guardiola that everything else went on back burner for City. The signings for this season have been made keeping in mind how they fit into Pep’s system. In came Leroy Sane the pacy winger from FC Schalke who offers width on the wings. Also coming in is Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund who will offer strength from midfield.
Another interesting capture is that of Nolito from Celta Vigo. The left winger offers a new dimension in the final third and will be expected to reduce the scoring burden on Sergio Aguero. The purchase of exciting Brazilian Gabriel Jesus is for the long-term. Interestingly, all these signings were achieved by beating tough competition. Sane attracted interested across Premier League sides while Nolito had a well-known affinity towards Barcelona.
Gundogan and Jesus were long-term targets for arch rivals Manchester United which made the signings doubly sweet. Overall, it was a satisfying season of transfers at the Etihad Stadium. But, the action is far from over as there will be at least one more addition. Claudio Bravo is expected to join from Barcelona while Joe Hart could move out of the door. All in all, there is Guardiola stamp in everything that’s happening at City right now.
Manchester City Key players review
You would laugh if one says Sergio Aguero is the key player for City – it’s an unwritten rule! But with injuries marring his continuous availability, City would need goals and influence from elsewhere. Goals for Pep usually come from his midfielders which makes Kevin de Bruyne and David Silva massive for the Citizens this season. If they want to make a dash both in the league and Europe, these two players are going to be critical.
Manchester City Season Prediction
The arrival of Pep has no doubt increased the interest in the entire Premier League. With his nemesis Jose Mourinho taking charge at neighbors Manchester City, there is so much to look forward to, this season. Although every other team has improved and this season promises to be more open than the last, City feel confident that they can beat anyone and land the title. Obviously it’s important that they do well in Europe too but backing City to land the Premier League title looks a worthy bet now.
