Another clash of egos for Jose!
There are very few managers with whom Mourinho hasn’t picked up a fight and his tussle with Ranieri is as ugly as it can ever be. Never the one to credit him for his work at Chelsea or in Serie A, Mourinho would love to get one past Ranieri especially since the loss to Leicester last season sealed his fate as Chelsea manager. Watch the sidelines, please!
After facing flak over the selection of Rooney and Pogba and playing them out-of-position, Mourinho must be thankful to the duo of Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford for saving him the blushes in the EFL Cup. Questions will again be asked on the presence of Rooney as number 10 but there is a feeling around Old Trafford that Mourinho could finally relent to using his captain in a deeper role.
Leicester may have lost in the midweek but they are trying to get back into contention for top six. Ranieri has the option of continuing with record signing Islam Slimani after his brace against Burnley in the last round of fixtures. The form of Riyad Mahrez is a puzzle but is quite understandable considering his dilly-dallying in the off-season.
Manchester United v Leicester City Bettingxpert Prediction
It’s not often you see Manchester United lose three games in succession in Premier League. For all the high hopes of the pre-season, United supporters are now worried about the rut that is showing no signs of abating. If he gets Rooney deeper in the midfield, Mourinho may end up winning the match.
The Foxes look slightly more settled than the Red Devils ahead of this match and Ranieri could even end up surprising the hosts. A close match is in the offing but backing Leicester to win by an odd goal looks a good bet.
