It will be a cracking return from international break for English Premier league (EPL) as Manchester neighbors – United and City, come face-to-face at the Old Trafford stadium. This round four clash of the 2016-17 season will be played on Saturday, September 10.

The Season so far for Man Utd and Man City

Manchester United started their season in great fashion by winning all their three games so far. Impressive wins against Bournemouth and Southampton was followed by a nervy win over Hull City – thanks to a goal in ‘Fergie time’.

Manchester City aren’t far behind starting their Pep Guardiola revolution with a fortuitous victory over Sunderland. But they followed it up with wins over Stoke City and West Ham with an air of authority that should send the hopes of their supporters soaring high.

A new chapter for the managers!

The background of this derby can’t be any less interesting with Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola starting their new chapter of rivalry. These two are easily the most successful of their generation and have a bit of history too – both on and off the pitch. Mourinho may not have had success on the pitch against Guardiola – just three wins against seven losses in 16 encounters – but the Portuguese tactician almost always gets under the skin of his Spanish counterpart.

The match has come so early in the season that the significance of a win or loss may not be huge in the context of title race. But no side will be willing to lose a derby and lose the bragging rights – apart from facing the wrath of their own supporters. This makes this clash all the more exciting!

Team news an latest

Mourinho is sweating over the availability of Marouance Fellaini and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. Both picked up injuries over the international break and are being monitored. The Armenian playmaker is yet to make his full-time debut for the club but could have been an impact player for Mourinho should the need arise!

For Guardiola, the weight of thoughts is around the suspension of Sergio Aguero. He has got a lot of cover in his squad and need not fret over his absence but the Argentine’s spectacular consistency will be missed in this important clash.

Manchester United v Manchester City Bet Prediction

City’s recent dominance against United should make them favorites for the clash although the entire dynamics have changed with the arrival of Mourinho and Guardiola. It could well be a tough encounter which may end up in a draw. Back a draw at odds of 23/10 (William Hill).

For United, the form of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a huge plus, who has already scored thrice in the season. With a lot to prove to his one-time nemesis Guardiola, a goal from the Swede anytime in the game is a good bet – odds of 13/10 with William Hill.
