EPL 2016-2017 - Arsenal v Chelsea Preview EPL 2016-2017 - Arsenal v Chelsea Preview

There’s no letup of interest in Premier League as we get ready for the sixth weekend of action. This weekend is London derby time and Emirates Stadium on September 24, Saturday will witness Arsenal taking on Chelsea.

Arsenal and Chelsea Season so far

Arsenal started the season in the worst possible way by losing to Liverpool at home. But Arsene Wenger’s men seem to have got back on track by staying unbeaten in the next four fixtures. With ten points from five matches, the Gunners currently are fourth in the table – just one above their rivals.

Chelsea started their life under new coach Antonio Conte with a bang but were brought down to earth in the last couple of matches. A draw to Swansea was followed by a 2-1 loss to Liverpool halting their early momentum. But more than the loss of points, the loss to Liverpool highlighted the deficiencies within this team.

Will it be the same as it was under Mourinho?

The London derby was special in the recent past because of the rivalry between Wenger and Mourinho – both on and off the field. With the Portuguese tactician no longer in charge of the Blues, the pre-match intensity may no longer be the same as it was then. But there is no doubting the intensity during the match which promises to be feisty as ever.

Antonio Conte looked out of sorts against a rampant Liverpool but he would love the style of Arsenal which suits his own style. He may try to keep stifling their strikers while depending on the antics of Diego Costa up front.

Team latest news and rumours

Apart from his usual absentees due to injury, Wenger will not be missing any for this vital clash. The form of Lucas Perez over the midweek EFL clash could get him thinking but it is hard to see the Spaniard starting the derby.

Chelsea fought back brilliantly against Leicester City in the Cup clash and most of it had to do with the brilliance of Cesc Fabregas. It is as yet unsure if he could barge his way into the starting XI – which looks difficult.

Arsenal v Chelsea Betting Prediction

Derbies are tough even though the Blues are missing their protagonist Mourinho. Back the teams to give their best and come out with goals from each end. Arsenal look to come with a slight edge in this encounter which may see an odd goal deciding the winner.

When it’s Arsenal, it got to be Diego Costa – the Spaniard loves bullying his neighbors and may well be at it again. Back him to score a goal sometime in the match – which could be the case with Alexis Sanchez too.
