English Premier League Transfer Review 2016 English Premier League Transfer Review 2016

All the clubs in England are giving final touches to their season’s preparations with last-leg friendlies. But that hasn’t stopped the transfer market buzzing with news. The biggest story is yet to crack with Paul Pogba, Juventus and Manchester United yet to give shape to the costliest transfer in football history. Thankfully, that’s not the only action around. Let’s look at what’s cooking with most of the clubs.

United seemed to be obsessed with the impending arrival of Pogba but there is bound to be interest in signing a defender too. Reports link Mourinho with an interest on Miranda who’s currently with Inter Milan. Equally important is the tray that is named ‘Out’ as latest reports point Marcus Rojo and Phil Jones also under danger of being sold. The club is facing flak for freezing out German legend Bastian Schweinsteiger but for now United seems worried about only one thing – Pogba!

Pep Guardiola on the other hand is bringing a silent revolution at Manchester City. The latest on the band wagon is the teenage German winger Leroy Sane who’s minced no words in saying that he joined Pep and not City! The Citizens will take that with a pinch of salt but will enjoy the fact that they could sign the Brazilian sensation Gabriel Jesus. The youngster who’s currently in Rio with the Olympic side is courted by many top sides including their bitter neighbors United but the presence of Pep helped City score one.

Everton is one more club which will have more action off the pitch in the coming days. With Romelu Lukaku expressing his desire to move out and Chelsea registering their intent on getting him back, there is a story developing there. But just like they did with John Stones last summer, Everton are staying firm on their rocket high valuations to deter Chelsea. And by the way, Stones is also expected to move out soon – not to Chelsea but to City. Koeman definitely has a busy time ahead.

Arsenal’s season generally starts with injuries and as is the norm, Per Mertesacker injured his knee. Arsene Wenger is now on the lookout for cover and is looking at Jonny Evans (West Brom) or Shkodran Mustafi (Valencia) in this window. Chelsea are also looking at Mustafi which means Valencia will enjoy the tug-of-price-war. He has already signed Rob Holding from Bolton Wanderers but the youngster is more likely to be a future investment.
