What an action packed Saturday we had! It was fitting enough to the status of Premier League that there were no goal-less matches and no draws. It was goals all over as teams continued their quest for supremacy. We look back at what transpired
Gunners gun down Hull
Arsenal showed glimpses of their quality as they thrashed Hull City 4-1. Alexis Sanchez was the star of the show with a brace while Walcott and Xhaka scored too. Hull, which finished with 10 men, pulled a goal back through Snodgross but it was only a consolation for the hosts. Arsenal climb up to third in the table and are five points away from table toppers Manchester City.
It had to end sometime and somewhere but none of Chelsea supporters expected that it would end at Stamford Bridge in this manner. The unbeaten start to the season for Antonio Conte was spectacularly put to bed by Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool on Friday night. In an enthralling encounter, Liverpool edged out Chelsea 2-1 to reassert their ascendency and get a toehold into the top four – even if it only for the time being!
Liverpool started brightly and had the better of early first half exchanges. Making the most of their dominance, the Reds took the lead through a Dejan Lovren goal. The defender was a question mark for this match but recovered in time to slot into the starting XI. The sheer superiority of the visitors was evident as the hosts struggled to keep hold on the play.
After exciting midweek action in Europe, Premier League will be back to full flow in the weekend. And topping the list of exciting encounters is the mouthwatering clash between Chelsea and Liverpool at the Stamford Bridge on Friday, September 16th. Both teams had no European commitments during the week and are fairly rested for the encounter.
Liverpool and Chelsea Season so far
It was a fascinating end to week four in Premier League as sides started coming to terms with the intensity of competition. Add to that the midweek action in Europe – both Champions League and Europa League – it makes a nice prelude to week five action.
Hull City versus Arsenal
EPL Weekend four saw Manchester City go solo at the top with an all-win record while Chelsea and Everton remain in close pursuit. At the bottom it is still tight for Stoke City and Sunderland who will have some sleepless nights. Let’s take a look back at the action from the weekend.
