Portugal win 5-3 on penalties

Euro 2016

And the Portugal juggernaut continues! Just when everyone seems to have written them off, the Seleccao come back to prove the experts wrong and continue their winning streak. With a 5-3 win in penalties against Poland, Portugal now finds themselves in the semis of Euro 2016.

The whole talk in the Poland camp was around the goal drought of Robert Lewandowski and it took just a minute and half to get back to scoring ways. This was the second quickest goal in Euros history and looked like Poland will be well on its way to semis.

But the joy was short lived as Renato Sanches who was impressive in the tournament went on to level things up by becoming the youngest scorer in a Euros knockout match. It then went swinging from either ends as neither team looked good enough to win it in normal time or the extra time. In the penalties, it was Jakub Blaszczykowski's missed spot-kick that was the difference.

Portugal now wait for the winner of Wales versus Belgium in the semi-finals.

Player of the game

Sanches was the star of the show for Portugal against Croatia once he came as a substitute. This earned him a start in this match and he didn’t disappoint. With quick feet and lightning tricks, the young Bayern Munich winger looks set to enthrall everyone. Spectators must be happy that they can get to see him for at least one more match.
