Wales have put in strong performances in Euros 2016 so far and will look to dish more of the same when they clash with Northern Ireland for a place in the quarter-finals. This encounter will be played at Parc des Princes in Paris on Saturday, June 25.

With Gareth Bale in its ranks, the Chris Coleman managed Wales was one of the underdogs. Paired with England, Russia and Slovakia in Group B, Wales managed to top the group. A defeat to England to a last-gasp goal by Daniel Sturridge was the only blip in their performance so far. The midfield duo of Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey have been in scintillating form so far giving them hopes of further progress.

Northern Ireland was one of the best third-placed teams to qualify for knockouts and are one of the surprise packages in the last-16. Having come from the group containing Germany, Poland and Ukraine, the Northern Ireland team would like to build up from their win against Ukraine. With a reputation as one of the most stubborn teams around, under Michael O’Neill this side can be a tricky opponent.

Wales may have performed admirably in the Euros so far but their recent form is patchy with just three wins in ten matches. But with two wins and six goals in the league stage, Wales have good enough reason to believe they start as favorites.

Northern Ireland have built up an impressive record with two defeats and five wins in their last ten matches. With a defensive unit that has not conceded more than a single goal in any of their last 16 encounters, Northern Ireland will definitely not fold up easily.

Wales v Northern Ireland - Betting advice

Wales have scored in every match so far with Bale being a constant presence on the scoring sheets. What more, they have scored a goal in the first half of every match which could be the case once again in the round of 16.

Northern Ireland have not conceded more than a single goal in a match for the past 16 encounters – a testimony to the resolve of this unit. They struggle, however, going forward and that may limit their chances of a win.

This could be a low scoring game so betting on under 2.5 goals looks a good option as does putting money on Bale being a goal scorer.

Wales to win
