Cristiano Ronaldo will look to answer his critics and keep Portugal alive in Euro 2016 when his team takes on Hungary at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais. This Group F game will be played on Wednesday, June 22.

Hungary have been one of the success stories at France surprising everyone with their pluckiness. They started the tournament with the object of avoiding the last spot in the group but before the final matchday they find themselves at the top of the pile. Their first game was a 2-0 win for the underdogs which was a true reflection of how Hungary managed to hit them on the counter. They were tested in the next game by a resolute Iceland but Hungary pulled back after being a goal down to snatch a point.

With four points in their kitty, Hungary are top of the group and one point would be enough to stay in automatic qualification places. A loss could still put their chances in jeopardy but Hungary have shown enough courage to pick points.

If Hungary started with no expectations, Portugal were always a favorite to top the group. But their history of underperformance in major tournaments weighed heavy over their expectations. True to those fears, Portugal struggled to impose themselves against Iceland ending with just a point. They showed the same ineffectiveness against Austria in the next match with Ronaldo doing everything except scoring a goal.

With just two points from two games Portugal find themselves in third. A win in this game would put them in automatic qualification places but a loss could be fatal to their hopes. Everything to play for!

Hungary lost just two and won four of their last ten encounters. In only two of these matches, the goal margin was more than one. With just one win in four matches, Portugal have been a case of inconsistency. Just three of their last nine games saw them score more than one goal which highlights their ineffectiveness.

Betting advice

Hungary is a tough defensive unit and have shipped two goals or more only twice in their last ten matches. With just two losses in their last ten matches, Hungary could be a difficult team to crack. With just four wins of their last nine matches, Portugal is under pressure even before this high pressure game.

Hungary could end up surprising Portugal with a draw or win.
