Hosts France will look to extend their winning run and book a berth in the second round when they play Albania at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille on Wednesday, June 15.

EURO 2016 – France looking strong

France were one of the pre-tournament title favourites and they proved it with a competent display against Romania in the 2-1 victory. It wasn’t an authoritative display nevertheless which shows that there is still room for improvement. The hosts had to run past a stubborn Romanian team and required every inch of Dimitri Payet’s brilliance to come out trumps.

With players like Antoine Griezmann and Anthony Martial still not showing their true potential, this French side looks capable of going deep in the tournament. A victory against Albania would more or less guarantee their progression and put them in prime position to win the top spot.

Their record is impressive too with nine wins from the past ten matches at an average of 2.5 goals per match. With just one match seeing the French team not scoring a goal, it looks certain that they will exercise their scoring boots once again in this match. The focus would be back on Payet for this encounter and the West Ham playmaker revels in such conditions.

 EURO 2016 – Albania a dangerous underdog

Though they lost against Switzerland, Albania would not be an easy opponent for the French. That game was their first ever in European Championships and the nerves showed in the initial five minutes which was when they conceded the goal. They tried hard to get back into the game but a second yellow card to their captain Lorik Cana doused their hopes. Another loss would be an end to their hopes but with a win they can join France at the top spot – with result in other game going in its favor.

Albania defeated France at home and earned a creditable draw in the last two encounters recently, which speaks of their pedigree. They have the ability to win this game but failure to score in four of their past ten matches would sow doubts on their ability to win this match. Their captain is suspended for this match which means more spotlight on their midfielder Taulant Xhaka.

FRANCE vs ALBANIA - Betting advice

France are scoring goals for fun in their last ten games which speaks well of their attacking intent. Though they flopped against Albania last time round, this is their chance to take revenge. But Albania will be a tough nut to crack and this could be a tight encounter.

Back the game to be a draw.
