For the last one month, Europe grappled with Euros fever. The on-field action didn’t disappoint either with teams like Iceland impressing with their performances. Not many English supporters would have enjoyed the Three Lions’ early departure but they will now be looking forward to a brand new English Premier League (EPL) 2016 - 2017 season. Clubs have already started their work towards 2016-17 season with some early signings. So which club has started on the right foot and which club has to get its radar right?

Manchester United was one of the first clubs to start their action starting with recruiting Jose Mourinho as the replacement for Louis Van Gaal. zlatan signing at manchesterThe wily Portuguese fulfilled his long-term ambition of managing Old Trafford and he set off quickly by signing three players already. Defender Eric Bailly was brought to ease the pressure on central defense while Henrik Mkhitaryan could turn out to be a shrewd signing with his pace and penetration. But the biggest cheer from the Red Devils’ supporters was reserved for the Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The forward may not have many seasons left in him but could prove to be a wily signing – considering his experience.

If United were swift, their rivals City weren’t far behind. Pep Guardiola was announced much early and the Spaniard has already started his revolution by signing midfielder Ilkay Gundogan. The injury-hit former Borussia Dortmund playmaker is definitely someone Pep admires and that should excite City fans. Forward Nolito has also joined City giving them extra teeth in the final third. Oleksandr Zinchenko is signed for the long term with the Ukrainian likely to be loaned out to Spain.

It is difficult being Leicester City this season considering the fact that there would be so much pressure on their stars from other clubs. True to that, Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante have been at the center of attention with attention from PL clubs and abroad. But Vardy gave Foxes a lot to cheer by staying put despite bid from Arsenal but Kante is on the verge of joining Chelsea. The defending Champions have already replaced the midfielder with Nampalys Mendy while forward Ahmed Musa has been added to give more depth in the final third. Luis Hernandez has been added to give options at the back while Ron-Robert Zieler will give competition to Kasper Schmeichel.

Not to left behind, Arsene Wenger and Arsenal made their first signing of the season by going for the Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka. They also made a strategic acquisition by signing the Japanese forward Takuma Asano – more to add to their brand influence in Asia.

There is so much of action at other clubs in England too and we will look at them in our next musing!
