Euro 2016

Wales continued their dream run by packing off red-hot Belgium and storming into the semi-finals of Euro 2016. In an entertaining quarter-finals played on Friday, Wales defeated Belgium 3-1 to book their spot in final four.

This didn’t look the case when the match started as early exchanges saw Belgium gain an upper hand. It was only some brave defending that saved them from going down early but Radja Nainggolan made sure that there was no such respite when he scored a fierce long-range goal. The goal spurred Wales as they came back stronger and were level when Ashley Williams scored, capitalizing on some slack defending.

From then on, it was enthralling action at both ends but Hal Robson-Kanu scored a brilliant individual goal to put Wales back in command. Belgium tried everything they could but couldn’t crack the Welsh defence who cushioned their win with Sam Vokes’ goal.

Wales will now face Portugal in the semi-finals with the clash already labelled as Bale vs Ronaldo.

Wales v Belgium - Player of the game

For a player with no club, Robson-Kanu has been a revelation this Euros. He complemented Bale perfectly and capped his day with a wonderful effort that was not just brilliant but also ended the hopes of Belgium. It’s not every day that someone eclipses Bale but Kanu managed to do just that with a match winning effort.
